Actually, I've been asking myself that question all day yesterday. The days are slipping away and I haven't had the energy to crank out a story yet this month. I'm wondering if writing fiction is no longer "fun" for me. Sometimes it feels like a chore...
So yeah, I guess I write fiction and poetry because it's fun and I seem to be good at it. Journaling is instinctive.
