Motivate yourself to conquer your goals this week! Post on Monday; update us on Friday! |
I had defined this week's goals as "get back on track." I will call this week a success, although in an unanticipated way. One thought had been to try to resuscitate Twosoe, which has been stalled for a year or so. I finally moved on and shelved it. Should inspiration strike I may pick up on it but it's no longer a priority. My other thought was about taking on a novel which would have required at least 2 years of research. On that end I began some research but not in any depth yet. While I still like the idea and may still do it, it's no longer a priority either. The good news is I've always wanted to write a Western. In 2025, nobody reads Westerns anymore - way too much Testosterone for the 21st Century reader - but I've never really concerned myself with the whims of the modern world. I'd never gotten any further than the thought that it might be a fun project. Then Tuesday I had that "Eureka" moment where the character started to form. Then the setting and the plot all followed. This will be another major project, but one that I can start immediately. I now have 8 pages of notes. I still need to flesh out the love interest and work on some supporting characters and then it'll be time to pound out the keystrokes. Was this "the plan?" Yes and no. I wasn't looking to start something new. But it definitely counts as "getting back on track." |
