Because I feel like you're bored and don't have enough to do, I thought I'd offer a suggestion full of work. lol Actually, maybe it's not as much work as it seems, unless I was in charge, then it would be three times the required amount. lol Anyway, I think it would be great for there to be a repository of some sort where people can put their WdC Wills so that they can be found easily when needed. You wouldn't need to dig through people's ports. They would just automatically be alphabetized in the repository by their username. The person could chose to have them set to public or private and they can change it anytime. Of course, they can also chance their will whenever. Maybe you would want to only allow Mods or even Senior Mods access to the repository (though we can always access our own, of course) so folks don't see what's there and get mad/jealous? Or maybe you can pretend we're all adults. Hahaha!!! Or maybe it's an open page with instructions and an example, but you magically code it so we can only access our own? No, not through our port, otherwise, how will we be sure it's actually in the repository? Folks like me will be sure we put it in there when we didn't unless it maybe changes color in our port or has some notification on there that says "In WdC Will Repository" along the top of the folder, then it's fine. We can do all edits in our port, so long as they are automatically reflected in the repository. Cool idea, SM! You're such a genius! Hahaha! BTW, if a person deposits a WdC Will, it would be even cooler if they had the option to be allowed to set up for the system to know to keep watch on their account. They want items X, Y, and Z to be transferred to persons A, and B and their GPs sent to group C if they don't log on in 6 months. Then maybe after 5 months, emails can be sent weekly letting them know the system is getting close to triggering their automatic transfers. Maybe even the people receiving the items can be notified so they know to reach out in case they have a way to contact the person and can tell them to log in in case they're just really busy with school or whatnot. Then if they don't log in, things can automatically transfer and you don't have to do anything. But if you set it up to do that, I'd have it show the handle when they are done typing in the username and have them check a box and/or sign saying they understand that the recipient may not send it back if the sender is not dead and they may permanently lose the item if they don't log in regularly. For that matter, if the recipient is dead, they can't send it back, though maybe a certain SM would be kind enough to transfer it back if they hadn't logged in after a while and the original owner came back. Maybe even have it automatically transfer back in the event of the recipient not logging in for 6 months and the original owner returning? Of course, this is all assuming everyone still had memberships and items weren't permanently purged. I'd have instructions, examples, good and bad case studies so people know what they are getting into. See? I'm already making it very complicated. Hahaha! This is why it's good that I'm putting it at your feet. Also, rumor is that you don't set the white cases to all be members for life or expire in like 2050 or something. I hope that's not the case because if you really do have to reset them all each year, that sounds like a royal pain! I'd suggest a better plan than that. lol Thanks for all you do for us! ![]() |
