I resisted plastic for many years. Now I use it almost exclusively. Far more often than not, I don't even have cash in my wallet. And most of the coinage in my possession lives in a tray in the car where it can be used for parking meters. (And even that's becoming obsolete, as most meters now take plastic as well as coins.)
I used to be paranoid about contactless payments. I even used to disable this on my cards (hold card up to a strong light to show up the rf circuit, then use scissors to cut just far enough to break the wire and then repair the small cut with tape.) These days I have little individual wallets for each card that isolate them and prevent and lowlifes with walk-by scanners from reading them.
