Last week went okay, I guess. I set ambitious goals and missed more of them than I usually do, mostly because I had to take a break both from writing, reading, and most other things, in the middle of the week.
The break did help, though. So, I guess I’ll try to set ambitious goals again, with the caveat that I might need to take another break to recharge my batteries rather than burnout.
On the plus side, I did manage quite a lot at work the last couple of weeks, so I will drop the work-related goals for now.
Core Goals
Write, edit, or outline every day: Same number one priority as always. Got to stay consistent.
Get exercise: Another regular goal. I hope to get 2-3 exercise sessions done and at least do some exercises to alleviate my back and elbow pains every day.
Stop snacking: This is the goal I’ve been struggling with the most, which isn’t all that surprising considering my generally low energy levels. I’m hoping being a bit on top of everything again will help me reach it this week, though.
Do vocal exercises: Same as always. I should be doing the vocal exercises 1-2 times a day.
Participate in Codex lunch: To help make writing less of a solitary activity and keep my motivation up, I really need to prioritize either the weekly codex lunch or the weekly online writing meeting.
Stretch Goals
Do a WYRM review: I want to keep my streak going and get in at least one review.
Finish first draft of my new WiP: This is a bit of a gamble. I have no outline for the story, so I’m not really sure how much I have left to write, but this is where I want to push myself and aim to finish the first draft this week.
Do writing exercises : It’s been quite a while since I’ve been doing any writing exercises, but if I want to improve my writing skills, I think this is a habit I need to kickstart.
Read short stories: Same goal as I’ve had the last couple of weeks. I want read/listen to at least 3 published short stories.
Read “new” magazines: Once again, I want to force myself to read stories outside of my regular venues (Flash Fiction Online, Clarkesworld, and Podcastle).
Read/listen to non-fiction: I need to read/listen to podcast/chapters about at least 3 different non-fiction subjects. Ideally, they will also be different sources, different podcasts/books.
Submit short stories: Once again, I don't really have any short stories waiting to be send out, but in case I do get rejections, I want those stories out again as soon as possible.
Do Fantasticon work: Again, I don't really have anything lined up here either, but if something do pop where I can help out with planning our local con, I want to do so.
