I always like finding out how other countries do things. And you're right about the problems with the US system. Any change, though, will require a vote, one by those put in power under the current system, so good luck with that.

I believe the question was ambiguous enough to cover any definition of "participate," so yeah, voting, volunteering, campaigning, whatever.
