At the moment, we're trying to teach my son (who is on the tail end of elementary school) how to do stuff more independently: cooking, laundry, cleaning the house, handling money, etc. We're trying to teach my daughter (who just started elementary school) some basic responsibilities: cleaning her room, picking the snacks she wants for her lunch, etc.
