Earth's degradation

Many of us don't consider the pain animals endure to be a big deal. In fact, radio and television have distanced us even from daily human sufferings. How many hours of letting your mind melt in front of the television does it take before the news and the 8:00 movie blend together? Fact and fiction become a jumbled miserable mess of pain and suffering. As a result, so few people have passions these days. Schools no longer teach us to think. We are spoon-fed information and we have virtually no capacity for deductive reasoning. Accepted morality is no longer challenged through the use of common sense. Just because society at large accepts a certain thing, does not mean that it is correct. Less than 150 years ago, slavery was widely accepted. We need to open our eyes to what is happening around us and decide for ourselves what is right and wrong instead of letting that be determined for us. Whether or not you agree with my ideas, or any others posted here, I ask you to open your minds and thoughtfully consider anything said. Hopefully we can learn to apply this skill to all aspects of our lives.
