Excuse the cynicism, but I'm with Lazarus. I'm in France right now and for the last month and a half i've been watching people scooping up pieces of oil products from the Atlantic South Coast beaches, making it easy for the real guilty persons to get off easily. They have their tankers assured...why don't they pay to clean up the mess they caused by running an out of date model?
We've already condemned ourselves to extinction...a slow painful ugly death, but death all the same. Its a pity about the other inhabitants of this earth...but if thee's one thing that's sure, the cockroaches will survive...they always do. If there is extraterrestrial life, when they do get here they might find only that...a cockroach planet.
That said, I don't mean that we should give up. I do my best. Don't litter, recycle, avoid the hazardous products etc. But its no sense kidding yourself that you're going to win a battle when you're alone and the enemy stretches across the plains as far as the eye can see. You can only fight your best, and then show that you never backed down, that you kept your honour and you defended your beliefs.
