I have not heard of Jamie Oliver, but I have (somewhere -- dunno where) heard of Naked Chef. A funky title like that stays with you, I guess!

I loved Palo Alto! Her house...um, low, pastel, shaded, with a wide concrete front porch and slim pillars holding up the porch roof. Behind it, on another street, is a hotel where the Beatles once stayed.

No, she does not miss living out west. I don't think she would have minded staying in California, but she hated the deserts in eastern Washington; she loved moving to the Midwest when she went to college. She still talks about how much she loved all the trees out here!
