Eh, heck if I really know you get pull a hamstring. I always thought it was from doing grand jetes (big leaps) too fast or without warming up. I didn't do any big leaps at the audition, but I did just about everything else. Flopping down on the floor funny could have done it. Getting up too quickly could have done it. We didn't have much of warm-up that day; if my muscle was out of shape and not warm enough, any abrupt movement could have done it, I suppose. I didn't notice any pain at the moment, but considering that my entire body was screaming out in agony by the evening, I might not have noticed it right away. I'm still not sure if that' what I have...but, then, what else could it have been? It still hurts a bit, but not much.

I have incorporated a pulled hamstring into my novel, though. (Fiction is such a poor disguise for an author's self-therapy!)

I was too tense to read. I was just about to throw my book across the room and switch off the light when someone knocked on the door.
I started, sending another shot of pain lancing through my leg. Scowling, I barked, "Enter!"
Kyle opened the door. He stood silhouetted against the light from the hallway. "I came to tell you to be ready by seven tomorrow morning," he remarked. "Grandmother is comining early. She will expect to see you directly she arrives."
"My leg hurts," I said, apropos of nothing.
"That's too bad." He shifted slightly; his earrings caught the light and glittered. "There ice in the kitchen if you need it." He stepped back, pulling the door shut.
"Thanks ever so," I said to the wood panelling.

It's rough, a first draft. I haven't had much time to write. I'm not pushing it. It's the dead of winter. It's all I can do to maintain my body and soul with no sun, no natural warmth (a thermostat cranked up to 70 Fahrenheit is so not the same thing!). Writing isn't coming easily. Still, I like to share what I have, pathetic as it is.

Oh. Rachel and Colleen's knee (gee, that would make a wonderful title for a bizarre indie film). Rach suggested chiropractic care, I think. Anything is preferable to surgery. Chiropractic can do so much for so many ailments.
