Zib: yes, it sort of does irk me when people say "veggies"! I wouldn't say it but I've become too lazy to say "vegetables". "Veggies" sounds so perky and like, "I'm a happy, slender, healthy woman who eats her VEGGIES! Tee hee!" Ugh. I wonder why it bothers you, too?
Thanks for explaining the professor-money thing. Do people ever think about when classes or courses are developed, classrooms are organized decorated (especially elementary school classrooms, which are usually covered in interested displays and brightly decorated bulletin boards), textbooks are reviewed and chosen, and syllabi are written? Ahem. That all happens in the summer. With no pay. RIGHT ON! Wow, that's a tremendous point.
