I'm currently working on a novel, and a short story/novelette (not sure yet), but I'm not sure I'm in that big a hurry to finish. That over the transom thing scares me, too. I do know a couple of people I could send it to, and I could get the attention of a couple of agents, and a couple of editors. I'm just worried that I only have one shot at these people, and I don't want to use up that one on something that isn't going to wow them. I have such a long-running case of writers block, and now that it seems to be dissipating, I'm getting nervous.

I do love selling my stuff, I love getting proof that people like my work, and nothing says it better than cold, hard cash. Of course, fan mail is fun, too, but mine has been for my published articles, not for something I feel is really creative like pure fiction.
