Do you write for publication? What markets? Use market guides? Which ones? |
You're not missing a thing. Just use it all. I've seen magazines so narrowly focused, I wouldn't be surprised to find "Owwie, the magazine for people who smashed their left pinkie finger within the last 2 hours, twice"! BTW, do you subscribe to Writers' Digest? You know, they do Market Updates in the mag monthly, and have their own contests and stuff. Some of the other writer mags just seem aimed at wannabes who'll never actually submit anything, Writers' Market is really focused and serious. I usually hesitate to urge people to spend money, not knowing their financial situation, but some expenses I think are worth giving up something else for, if that's a possibility/requirement. I still remember the starving student days, vividly, though!
