It was lovely to hear from you Nadia. Ramble all you like.
It was interesting what you were saying about a test and punishment. I never really think of hard tests as a 'punishment' - but I do find so much benefit in the problems that come my way. They are a wake up call and help me to reassess where I am going especially in my religious life. I think many people would find it hard to swallow - this idea of Allah punishing us, when we are in the middle of a test (although I do not doubt that Allah does this). But when you have passed through the worst parts of a test - I for one can see the blessing in it. Through our hardest trials we can learn very valuable lessons.
I am glad to hear that your family in Acheh are OK. I can't imagine that you have been to the place. I did see a mosque on the news and it was the only thing still standing subhanallah.
Your little Hamzah sounds so sweet. Why didn't he want to try the ice skating?
