Sitting down on the ground Amadeus began to hum an old tune as he waited for Zee to reboot. Until his companion was operational again Amadeus didn't feel like getting himself lost on the planet's surface, because there was always the possibility, however small, that the phenomenon that had dragged him from Dedros to this strange forest would reopen and send him back.
The forest air hung still and quite all around him, giving Amadeus a chance to think over the game he'd been playing, and finally come to the realization that Jasmine had been right, he should have waited on the ledge for the others, as the dragon had beaten him twice, one of those times using his digestive tract, which had oddly been an arousing experience. He would have to have a psych profile done later to analyze why, and maybe get a hypnotic reprogramming to get rid of that personality quirk.
"Zee would probably just tell me I was being a human," commented Amadeus to himself remembering the CAP's opinion that all humans were in some way mentally ill, though he felt that was an improvement over the other races he'd met, who all seemed dull when compared to humans, who's reactions were as random as that of two free flying electrons.
Sitting alone in the darkness Amadeus felt himself drifting off to sleep, probably because he'd been up the last five days straight in the Game, finding clues that had led them to the mountain path which would lead eventually to the dragon's lair and the Yggdrasil treeling within. The point of the Game was to get the treeling back to Asgard so Odin could grant it new life so it could replace the failing World Tree, though in five play throughs they had yet to even make it up the mountain, let alone back to Asgard.
A sound alerted Amadeus to company, but before he could react something slammed into his back, sending him forward to the ground. Feeling stupid for being caught in a daydream Amadeus tried to move, but found his body refused to cooperate, remaining frozen despite his will to move. Searching his memory he realized the blow had connected with the base of his neck on the back, probably shattering part of his spine, rendering him unable to move.
"Is he down?" asked a voice, oddly enough in a language that Amadeus could understand. Moving his eyes he looked over towards the place where he thought the words had come from and saw two figures moving in the darkness, though he couldn't make out anything other than vague outlines of two humanoid shapes, one possessing a tail. The tail whipped from side to side as the two figures approached, and Amadeus realized that he was caught be some kind of enemy, and that he was probably going to be dead within the next few moments.
A trained warrior of the Combine Amadeus did not panic. His skills had not availed him, and he had no intention of allowing whoever it was who had slain him to get away with it. Waiting he allowed the two figures to slowly approach him, and just as they entered range he pushed on one of his molars with his tongue, revealing a small panel, and then he bit down as hard as he could, hearing a satisfying crack as the tooth broke in half, and then everything went white hot as he and everything within a dozen feet were consumed by an azure orb of light. Never would Amadeus know where he was, or who had killed him, but his actions ended the life of two villains, and that was enough for him.
