Chapter #7

Rudy keeps quiet.

by: BIG BAD WOLF is Merry Author IconMail Icon
As Rudy heard the question that the reporter asked him, he looked at Amadeus, who was acting like a drunken soldier, who'd been arrested for being drunk in public, and disturbing the peace or some such thing. The man's act was very convincing, and even his breath smelled like he'd been drinking, due to a jell filled capsule that he'd put in his mouth and caused to burst, after he'd cleaned his outfit of the green bloodlike stain on his outfit.

"Um, Mom, Keven, can we go home," he said. "I don't feel so good."

As Kell looked at her son, she noticed that he was indead pale, as if he was sick. However, she knew that he was nervous, both because he'd just been in a holding cell, and because he didn't want to betray the trust of the man who'd saved his life and give him away.

"Yah, we better get you home," she said, as she pick her son up, and started carrying him to the car, an easy task concidering she'd taken down things larger than her son while hunting at work.

Keven then looked at Amadeus, who had just stumbled into yet another cameraman. If he didn't know better, he would of thought that the man really was drunk.

"Hey sir," he said, walking up to him. "Would you like a lift? You look like you could use one."

"Whyssh, thankshhh," Amadeus said, as he seemed to look at the rabbit, getting ready to fall upon his feet again. "Your a nicssshe, Sholdier."

With that, Keven put one of the man's arms around his neck and started to carry him.

"Arn't you going a little far with the drunken soldier act?" he asked.

"One could," Amadeus said, in a low voice that was barely audible, even to Keven's sensitive ears. "However, I've had to deal with some of my comrades when they got drunk, and this is how they tended to act when they were sobering up."

"Yah well, you better do something about you breath," Keven said, turning his head away to a degree. "Most people tend to have very sensitive noses around here, including my wife and stepson."

"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that," Amadeus said, as he leaned on the man's shoulder. "I've got a couple of capsules that will make my breath smell like peppermint or spearmint, or some type of mint at any rate. Very useful when there is a lovely woman some place and I had forgotten to brush my teeth that day. After all, one wants to leave the ladies with a good first impression, so they will ask you out in the future."

At this, Keven chuckled and said, "Your right on that. I remember when I first met Kell. She didn't know if she wanted to have me for dinner, or FOR DINNER, if you catch my drift."

"Don't they all," Amadeus said, with a chuckle of his own. "While I've never been at risk of being put on the menue, as it were, I dated a woman who was either a nice person to chat with, or someone who makes a murderer look like saint in comparison, because she was two people in one, seriously."

***

A while later, when Keven opened up the door to the back of his car and helped the man get in, and start to drive away, Amadeus reached pulled his one hand out of his pocket and put a capsule in his mouth and bit down, causing his breath to smell like mint.

"Much better," he said. "The scent of alcohol gives me a bit of a headache, especially given the fact that I've got this helmat on."

"Well, why don't you take it off now?" Keven asked, looking in the mirror. "I doubt that anyone would get a clear shot of you at this distance."

"I guess you are right," Amadeus said, as he looked behind them. "I'd just prefer to be on the safe side until we reach your home. After all, sometimes the moment that you let your guard down, turns into the last moment of your life."

"Personal experiance I take," Keven said.

"Yah," Amadeus said, with a slow nod. "I remember one night when me and some of my comrades were sitting around a campfire, swapping stories, when next thing I knew, a sniper's bullit took the lives of the guy next to me, and the fella across from him. I tell you, being that close to death makes you aprectate life, even when you think you are having the worst day of your life, because you could of been killed instead."

"Is your whole species like that?" Rudy asked, his eyes widening when he heard what the man who had saved his life had said. "Killing each other that is?"

"Depends on who you ask," Amadeus said. "Some say that we are a peaceful race, who only fight when necesary, and others argue that we are the most violent race in existance, who take great pleasure in killing each other, and others."

"Well, here's a question," Kell said, looking at him. "When you said that you'd been arrested for murder when you were first taken to jail, did you do it?"

At this, Amadeus says.....

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. "No, someone else did it, and my name was cleared."

2. "Yes, I killed a man, but I had my reasons for doing it."

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
