"I think I'll keep them on. They should dry pretty quickly."
Russ does not try to hide the fact he's disappointed by Matt's decision.
"All right. Well, let's head up the hill here."
They walk up the hill and Russ seems to have chosen a more agressive path. Mat has to walk harder and his steps are taller. Some of his steps even push his legs against his swollen belly, which is very uncomfortable. Quickly, they have to stop, and almost no sooner does Matt think that then there's a clearing up ahead. Russ takes them up there and stops without even asking Matt.
"Let's take a break."
"Okay."
The boys sit down in the clearing, Matt first and a little uncomfortably. Russ sits down very close to Matt.
"Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah."
"Sometimes it can give you a stomach cramp to walk so much right after eating."
"I think I'm okay. There was some discomfort back--"
Matt cuts himself off as he feels Russ's hand against his belly massaging the lower part where there was an uncomfortable pressure. He considers asking Russ what he's doing, or telling him to stop, but the feeling is profoundly relaxing. Matt lays down in the clearing and Russ moves closer, massaging now with both hands. The closeness doesn't bother Matt, which surprises him.
Matt only realizes time has passed when it's suddenly sunset and they're still laying there. The boys...
