You loved this park. It was full of forests, with a huge lake in the center, and it was easy to find a calm, secluded spot where there wasn't another person anywhere in sight. It reminded you of the places you and Jessie used to date. You pulled in the parking lot and saw a rental car sitting there, and your heart quickened a little as you turned off the ignition and stepped out. There, standing by the entrance to a little trail, was Jessie, beaming at you with that winsome smile that could probably charm just about any guy.
"Jessie!"
"Peter! It's been far too long. How are you!" she replied as you walked up.
"Oh, I've done pretty well the past year. Things were rough before that. How's the baby? I heard you are a mother now."
Jessie laughed. "Oh, Mary is a little bundle of joy, when she's asleep," she said.
"So, what prompted you to come out here? Not too much going on in my neck of the woods," you said, as you round a corner and keep walking.
