Miyu knew today wouldn’t be a peaceful day, despite the hope that had she had dredged up for it. The lack of regular customers was one thing, and a foggy future sight was another, but the big tip-off was when an emergency broadcast aired, warning people that a strange virus was infecting female Navis and fattening them up. She sighed slightly as she half-listened to the broadcast. “Well.....this virus has put a seal of death on today’s business....and a veil of darkness over the future of my shop.....” Miyu got up and went to go shut up the store for today.....missing a vital part of the broadcast in the process.
“I-In a shocking new development, it seems that the virus is somehow able to spread into the real world through contact with an infected PET! Please ignore our previous warning and make no attempt to touch your PET or Navi, lest you get infected as well! Stay home and try not to come into contact with anyone else! Ribbita, DNN!” The broadcast’s audio was then cut off, although the video feed of a growing and panicking Ribbita remained for a while before switching to a ‘please stand by’ screen.
As Miyu pulled down and locked the roller door, activated the security system and shut the windows and blinds, she remembered that she had sent Skullman to do some Internet errands. Although he was a male, he could still catch the virus and pass it on to others, and she didn’t want that. Closing the last window, she headed over to her PET, and spoke to Skullman. “Skullman, Jack Out. Something’s come up that I want no part of right now.” She ordered her Navi.
“Rodger that, Miyu! It’s starting to get a little crazy here anyway.” Her Navi responded, clearly having seen something that amused him.
Miyu watched as Skullman returned to the PET before she removed the Jack-In Plug from her PC....and nearly dropped it in shock as orange electricity sparked from it and into her. “Christ....” she muttered, shocked.
“Something wrong, Miyu?” Skullman asked, some concern in his voice. Miyu shocked her head. “Nothing, Skullman. Just fumbled the plug.” The electricity hadn’t left any marks....she didn’t even feel any tingling in her fingers, come to think of it. Had she just imagined it? At that moment, though....
