You and the puma exchange claw strikes for a bit, one such strike leaves you with a stinging sensation in your right eye. Pushing back the pain, you kept fighting until you had managed to sink your fangs into the puma's throat. He froze as you ripped his throat open and tore a chunk of flesh from him. Blood stained your muzzle as you dropped the chunk of puma meat from your jaws. He collapsed, a bloodied gurgle was the only sound he made as the life faded from his eyes.
With the puma dead, you quickly break the claw open and gently pick up Korumu. "You alright?" You ask as you check the lion over.
"Yeah, I think so." Korumu replies as he tries to calm himself. You held him and Lissa on the same paw and watched at the younger lioness hugged her brother tightly. Korumu held Lissa close, trying his best to reassure her that he was ok.
You smile slightly before looking about. There were no further attacks ongoing which caused you to breath a sigh of relief. Carefully you set the two lions on the sidewalk. Several officers had you and your friends surround, guns pointed at you. You nervously put your hands up, not wanting to make the situation worse.
"Drop your weapons. That young man saved our lives." A well dressed rhino stated as he approached. You recognized him from all the mayoral campaign adds. He was the current mayor of the city and was a well known businessman.
The officers compiled with the order as they looked to the mayor. He trotted up to you and smiled. "Thank you for defending our city. What's your name good sir?" The mayor asked as he looked you up and down.
"Darean." You replied drily.
"Darean. Well met, Darean. How---"
"I can answer that, mayor. But first I need to run further tests upon our coyote friend." The tiger from the research facility stated as he walked up.
"Dr. Rathmorse..."
"It seems the serum works albeit a bit too well." The tiger said as he looks at you. "Darean, if you would, meet me at the research facility. You can bring your friends if you'd like. They might want to know all the side effects of that drug."
You nod as you watch the doctor head out. Soon everyone disperses, leaving you, Korumu and Lissa. With a sigh you look to your friends. "You guys want to come?" You ask.
"Yeah, it'd be nice to know what's happening to you." Korumu replies. Lissa gives a simple nod. You lower your right hand and let them climb up before heading out.
