Life had grown boring and tedious for Delia Ketchum. The young mother of Ash was living alone in her quiet little house in Pallet Town, with nothing to do. Her former housekeeper and friend Mr. Mine had moved on, to where Mrs. Ketchum had no idea, and she had yet to hear or see her son in months. He said that he would be near by soon, but his lack of communication bothered his mother greatly. Her only real company was Prof. Oak, and even contact with him was scarce. For a long time, Mrs. Ketchum had been alone and it was finally starting to catch up to her. She had realized that she would most likely be spending the rest of her life alone and die without anyone by her side.
To banish her depressing thoughts, Mrs. Ketchum had been spending more and more time in her garden. Trying to forget about her problems, by focusing more on her plants. Right now, she was trying to grow a strange red plant that she had been trying to grow for months. It had originally been a seed that Ash had mailed to her from halfway across the world. He sent it knowing how much she loved to plant and knew that she would enjoy the challenge of growing a rare breed of plant in her garden. It had taken constant supervision and care, but Mrs. Ketchum had managed to turn that small seed into a beautiful flower. It looked like it would bloom at any moment and Mrs. Ketchum was waiting in her garden hopping to catch the event as it enfolded.
She was watering her tomatoes, when she caught some slight movement from the flower bud out of the corner of her eye, Rushing towards the plant, she wiped her hands clean on her apron and bent over to watch the floor bloom. She smiled as she saw the bright yellow center of the flower through the petals and leaned closer to sniff the blossom. It smelt like cinnamon and for a moment she was overwhelm by the sweet aroma. She regained her full awareness when she felt a shower of pollen spray her from the flower. She stumbled back and fell on her behind, feeling the tiny particles of pollen blew into her mouth and entered her body.
She returned to her feet and dusted herself off, as miserable as it seemed, getting sprayed by that flower would probably be the most exciting thing to happen to her this whole week. With her gardening done, Mrs. Ketchum started back towards the house, but stopped dead in her tracks when she noticed something strange. The ground seemed further away then normal. The lonely woman watched as she rose off the ground, reaching seven feet, then teen in moments. She could only watch as she continued to grow past amazon heights and persisted to grow, until she loomed over her own house.
