You decided this is too big of a bite for you to handle, so with a terrible aching in the pit of your stomach you turn away from the beautiful black egg and walk solemnly toward the door. All the while your inner self chastised you mercilessly about being a traitor to your good sense, and a worthless coward. How can you live with yourself after this?
Just as you reached the entrance to the cave a roar from above drove your body to tremble. You nearly fell to the ground when a huge dragon, about the size of the black male in the cave, landed in front of you blocking your way. This one was a flaming pulsating orange. It's majesty and elegance only surpassed by that of the sun. With a deep rumble in it's chest the dragon opened a mouth full of deadly fangs that flickered with a pearl appearance. Expecting the end you drop to your knees and bow your head in submission. A thought flares in your mind of the lone dragon egg and the group of men and dragons you neglected to protect and tears stung your eyes.
Another roar echoed from the woods, and a young dragon hatch-ling came charging from the shadows. It too glowed bright and orange in the sunlight. The larger dragon turned and appeared to become relieved to see the little one. They had a small reunion in front of you as though you were not present, until the older orange creature remembered. Again teeth were bared and a growl resounded from the pits of it's being.
And that is when it happened.
