Chapter #5

The deal.

by: Detective Barricade Author IconMail Icon
The next day in class, you noticed that Sarah kept looking over at you. Her focus on the class itself suffered as a result, but it seemed her mind just wasn't all there in the classroom. You however kept your focus even through the burning feeling of Sarah's stares at you. You heard the occasional sigh from her, since she was sitting next to you, but tried to ignore it until after class.

Soon the class was over, and you got up from your seat. It was your last class today, so you were headed for your dorm to put your books away and relax with your growth fantasies for a little while, then work on your assignments for the day after. However, as you went, you had the distinct feeling of being followed...

Eventually, you reached the door to your dorm. But before you could open it, Sarah put her hand on it.

"Uh...h-hi." you said, unsure if she was about to ask another one of her odd growth related questions, or was about to ask you on a date. You and Sarah had become close friends as the weeks passed, but you hadn't thought that she was quite that into you before today.

"Moe, I...want to ask you something. But, can...can we go over to my dorm to discuss this?" Sarah asks hesitantly. A part of you breathes a sigh of relief that she didn't seem to be asking you out, but the other part still dreaded to find out what she wanted.

However curiosity got the better of you and you respond, "S-sure, Sarah. Just let me put my books away first. I was only planning on relaxing with some...stuff at the moment, but it can wait."

Sarah removed her hand from the door and let you go inside. You set your books down on a table and then headed back out and closed the door. You followed Sarah's lead to her dorm, which wasn't really that far from yours, even though you were well aware of how to get there by now. She opened her door and led you inside to talk, closing the door behind you.

"So, what did you want to ask me that you couldn't do at my dorm's door?" you asked, getting straight to the point.

"Moe...I know I've asked a few...okay, make that a lot of awkward questions around you concerning growth. But never once have you considered me crazy for asking them, so I guess it's okay if I pop this question. I mean, you and I have been good friends for several weeks now..." Sarah replied, but before you could say anything, she finally asked, "Moe? Are you...are you into growth at all? You might call me crazy, and maybe I am, but..."

Actually, you were quite surprised of this, considering you were eventually going to ask her the same thing. You responded, "...Y-yes, yes I'm into it. So that means that you fantasize about it too? I had meant to ask the question myself after all the questions, but I feared I would come off sounding like some sort of weirdo or something..."

"Moe, I...I don't just fantasize about it. I'm frigging obsessed by it. For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to grow bigger, bigger than anyone. Sometimes I would get good news from the doctors when I was a little girl, but it was never enough. It's on my mind day and night. I sometimes stay up late at night crying because of how badly I want to grow. Hell, pretty much everything I do these days is dedicated to this. It's why I've been majoring in biology; to study the growth of humans." Sarah informed you.

Sarah then continued further with, "I have tried everything. If it has even the slightest hint that it could make me grow or allow me to grow myself or others to grow, I've most likely tried it. Nothing has worked. At this point, I think every failure I've come across has only served to make me increasingly desperate..."

You almost considered Sarah to be crazy. Possibly insane, even. Going by what she had told you, she would gladly murder an army's worth of people in cold blood and mutilate their corpses and worse if she believed it would make her grow. She almost seemed more fit for an asylum than in college.

But still, you didn't know what you had to do with this. She wanted something of you. "W-wow... I fantasize about growth, sure, but even I recognize that such a thing is impossible in modern science." you said carefully, neither wanting to ruin your friendship with Sarah nor get killed by her for saying such a thing even though you knew it to be the truth. Until...

"That...might not necessarily be true. Yesterday, I came across this article that claimed of a breakthrough serum that can induce non-cancerous growth in the subject. It's still experimental, and human tests are closed and underway, but I also found someone on the internet claiming to have gotten a hold of at least a few samples." Sarah said, and piqued your interest.

"And you want it because you think it might work." you stated.

"I don't know if it will, or if this is some elaborate scam, but the possibility is there. I can't ignore it, I have to try. The problem is, Moe, that the seller isn't about to let it go for cheap. There's no way I can pay for this on my own without pushing myself to my limits in extra jobs and overtime and college for this, and by then this person may have disappeared or be demanding even more. So...I-I was thinking that because we're friends..." Sarah admitted.

You quickly picked up what she was about to ask, and finished for her, "You want me to help pay for this, right?"

"Yes! You help me pay for the serum, and I try it out! As nice as it would be though, I wouldn't ask you to just do it out of the kindness of your heart. I'd repay you for your help somehow. I'd even be willing to...give you some wild nights if that's what you wanted. But since your into growth too, I can share some of the serum with you. If it works, both our dreams could be realized! And if not...well...I'm sorry. But we won't know until we try, right?" Sarah said, and then looked at you with pleading eyes.

You were putting your wallet on the line. You actually did want to help Sarah, and possibly see your fantasy become real...but on the other hand, what if this was all a scam? Then again, she might do something dangerous by herself if you didn't.

You have the following choices:

1. Agree to split the cost.

*Noteb*
2. Politely refuse to help.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
