Reinforcements

"Major, another ship is decloaking." She looked over her shoulder and saw Commander Eddington at the tactical station. Maybe it was based on Odo's reactions, but she had never really taken to the Starfleet Security officer. Now she was glad he was here. "Major, its the Defiant!" There was a short pause and Kira silently thanked the Prophets. "Captain Sisko is hailing us."
"On screen Commander," she said, trying to maintain her composure as the station rocked around her. Before long, Captain Benjamin Sisko's face was looking at her, carrying a solemn expression.
"It looks like we got back just in time," he said.
"Couldn't agree more Captain." Kira started to get him up to speed,"Three Dominion ships came through the wormhole and started attacking us."
"Sir," she heard Jadzia's voice in the background, "They're retreating."
Kira looked to Eddington for confirmation, and he simply nodded his agreement. Just like that it was over. She put aside her confusion, for the moment, simply happy that the room had stopped shaking.
"Well, that was easy," Sisko said.
She shrugged and the communication ended. "Damage Chief?"
"Its all superficial..." He paused, and the tone of his voice told her something wasn't sitting right.
"Something wrong Chief?"
"I don't know Major. The attack only lasted a few minutes, but the Jehm H'dar know what they're doing. They could have hurt us if..."
"If?"
"If they'd been trying sir."
That opened a brand new can of worms. Unfortunately she didn't have time to worry about it just now. When the Captain came aboard he was going to want to know what kind of shape they were in.
"Kira to Infirmary."
"Bashir here," she heard Julian's voice. At least he didn't sound to stressed. That was a good sign.
"Casualties Doctor?"
"Nothing serious Major. Mostly bruises and cuts from being tossed around."
"Glad to hear it Doctor," she said, already on the lift. She wanted to be at the airlock when Sisko came aboard.
