Sailing down into the jam spilled on the floor

You frantically swim through the jam to the surface. Emerging free you look up at Kate, her enormous mass still moving as she steps back form the mess. You feel the jam below you jiggle with each step as Kate moves across the kitchen, you see her reach for paper towels but then stop. Her hand then reaches across for a loaf of bread. With her back turned you begin swimming to the edge of the mess, the red lid nearby seemed your best option. You were so focused on escaping you didn't notice Kate's return, her grunt of exertion as she knelt down gave her away. Turning back you see the descending giant now with multiple slices of bread in hand. Hoping to not be seen you try to blend into the thick jam around you hoping you weren't seen. Kate swiped the slices of bread across the floor, scooping up as much jam as possible. After using all 8 slices she scooped up what remained with the lid into the jar. The last few patches she wiped up with her hands and licked them clean. Where did you end up?
