When she was growing up as a shrine maiden, she had learned early how to read the flames and see the future in the curl of the smoke. Those divinations were second nature to her, as was her fiery temper. While the revelation of who she was, Sailor Mars, had been a shock, the nature of her powers had seemed all too natural. Fire had been her birthright, it was only natural that the fire would be hers to call on.
Perhaps that was how, as she lay in the steaming water, with the sounds of the girls washing and laughing around her, that Rei found herself lulled into a deep sleep, the heat as great a comfort to her as a lullaby. And perhaps, skilled as she was with coaxing visions of the future from the fire, that was what she dreamed of.
The was a reddish-purple haze all around her. The sky was dark, the twilight hue of a sun almost completely set. In the distant, she could hear the crashing of wave against a shore...but the timber was off. She found herself in her sailor fuku, her hair a mess and her body sluggish. The landscape all around her was all black rock, like obsidian. Long, rubbery growths like some unknowable fugus wrapped around the landscape, pulsating. In the distant, she could see strange obelisks spaced at irregular intervals. And above the gurgling crash of the surf...she heard voices.
Mars rose unsteadily to her feet. Her eyes adjusted to the awful gloom. As she moved towards the sounds of the sea, she gazed up at the sky, and she trembled. The sun wasn't setting...it was a dim ball of dull red. At the corners of the sky, it was dark enough to see the stars. And yet...they were dull, barely visible points of light, seemingly matching the fate of the sun. And there was no moon to be seen. And Mars knew, with the revelations that only come in dreams, that the moon was gone, that all the worlds of Sol were gone, stripped of their orbits and swallowed up. This was all that remained...
And as she came to understand this, she reached the cliff face. And she stared down into an awful pearly sea too hideous and thick to be water. And in the waves she saw people....hundreds, thousands, millions, writhing in the ebb and flow of the unnatural tides. And by the way they pressed together, and by the strange writhing of their bodies, and by the chilling moans carried on the wind Rei knew what they were doing. And she wanted to scream, because even crying out in the throes of passion their voices carried the unnatural pitch of hysteria and madness. And there were other voices as well, caught inbetween climaxes, voices that were singing...chanting...speaking words she didn't know. Words she didn't want to hear....
Rei turned and began to run. She fled through stony barrens and unnatural obelisks, and as she did the dream took on a different tone. New sounds came alive around her, sounds of real people and real civilization...and the sun seemed to swell in the sky and brightened, and somehow she was back in the real modern world. Buses and cars and people were moving all around her, the city was alive and thrumming. And she stood, feeling as if time had slowed for her and her alone. And then, the laughter began. A little kid was pointing and laughing at her. And others were...pointing, laughing, staring...leering at her. Rei looked down, trying to figure out what was going on. And there she stood, now without her fuku or anything else, standing in the center of the street utterly naked, and everyone staring.
Rei's hands went to cover herself. But even as her right hand reached her bare breasts, an awful and overwhelming urge came over her. She began to stroke and tease her nipples. Her left hand, seeking to hide her shaven sex from view, was compelled to go DEEPER, to part her folds and explore. Rei blushed furiously as she started to play with herself, even as the camera phones began to snap away.
"Rei! Rei! Wake up!" Usagi called, shaking the frightened girl awake.
"Ah! Usagi! Oh my god! I had the worst dream! I think there's a new enemy here! I saw an awful future! And then...oh god, it was so embarrassing! I was standing in the middle of the street, and I didn't have any clothes on, and I just started to masturbate in the middle of the street! It was the most embarrassing....Usagi...what are you doing?" Rei asked as Usagi frantically shoved a towel into her hands and then hid behind her.
"Rei...your not going to want to hear this, but..." Usagi said. Rei realized three things in quick succession. First, Uagi was naked and dripping wet from the bath. Second, she was also naked and dripping wet. Third, she wasn't in the bath anymore. And the way Usagi was crouching behind her and desperately motioning her to pull the towel up....
Rei looked up from the towel. All around her were the sounds of real people and real civilization. Buses and cars and people were moving all around her, the city was alive and thrumming. And people were laughing at her. And pointing. And staring. And leering.
"That last part wasn't a dream." She said, the dawning sense of dread settling in on her.
"You just got up with a glazed look in your eyes and ran out of the bathhouse. And when I caught up to you-" Usagi stopped abruptly.
Rei looked at the camera phones, and turned pale. She held the towel in front of her, but the crowd was huge and nowhere they could turn would keep them from mooning some portion of the audience. Worse, there was one towel, and two of them. What were they supposed to do? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
