Temari headed downstairs. Luckily Kankuro was gone bright and early because he had border patrol. She practically skipped into the kitchen her mouth watering at the thought of fatty deep fried bacon, greasy eggs, oily hash browns, and a HUGE stack of chocolate chip pancakes smothered with butter and high calorie syrup.
Her luscious fantasy came to an end when she spotted Gaara, her younger brother. He was sitting at the table still dressed in his pajamas. It was blue decorated with little brown bears on it. Temari nearly fell on her face as she came to a screeching halt.
Gaara looked up at her without blinking. They stared at each other unblinkingly for several minutes. Temari even dared herself not to breath. The tension was finally broken when Gaara spoke, “Good morning Temari…” he said cautiously.
Temari nearly fainted with relief. “M-morning Gaara” she patted her chest to calm her beating heart and entered the kitchen. She sent a mental thank you to a certain blue eyed blonde haired ninja living in Kohana.
For the pass three months Temari and Kankuro had noticed a drastic change in Gaara when Naruto knocked him for a loop. The red head was less violent and kinder—especially to her and Kankuro.
Temari pulled out a pan from the cabinet. “Would you like something to eat, Gaara?” she asked politely.
“What are you cooking?” Gaara asked.
“Uh some eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes” Temari answered.
Gaara blinked. No rice, no pickles, no imported seaweed? “Very well” he said.
Temari nodded and got cracking—literally, with the eggs.
Twenty minutes later the kitchen was filled with scrumptious smells. Gaara was confused by the large amount of food his sister was cooking. Kankuro was gone for the day and they were not expecting company—not that I would have any.
Even after several months of good behavior, the villagers were no closer in trusting him. That thought alone made Gaara
depressed. Closing his eyes he shook those thoughts off. Even if they continued to hate him, he vowed to still—
*THUNK*
Gaara’s eyes flew open to see a huge stack of pancakes on the table. Gaara blinked again at the ridiculously high pile that could feed nearly twenty-five people! Next Temari brought out a plate stacked with several pans worth of hash browns. Then a gigantic heap of at least five packs of cooked bacon and a huge bowl piled high with fluffy eggs.
Gaara sent Temari a stunned look. With a sweet smile, his sister placed down a plate and a fork for him. “Dig in!” she said. Gaara only got one piece of bacon, a spoonful of eggs and three medium sized pancakes.
Temari came back a moment later, her arms filled five syrup bottles. All of them were ridiculously high in calories expect one. It was lite maple syrup. Gaara choose that one and Temari had no trouble in taking the rest.
If Gaara had eyebrows they would have reached his hair line as he looked on at the alarming amount his sister was piling onto her own plate. Once she was done, she smothered her pancakes with butter and the richest syrup bottle they had in their household.
Unaware of her brother’s observations, Temari licked her lips in anticipation as she took her seat at the table. The mere though of stuffing herself to the limit excited her. It was feasting time!
