A big, fat, ugly cat was staring down its nose at him. Templeton swallowed hard. The cat's fur was patchy and ill-kept, but the animal was obviously well-fed. And large. Templeton was painfully aware of the fact that the cat could probably swallow him whole if it wanted to.
"Hello," said the cat conversationally.
"Hello back," said Templeton, clutching his massive belly for comfort.
"You here for the food?" asked the cat.
"Yes," said Templeton. He'd obviously been stuffing himself all night.
"Me too." The cat licked its lips, revealing many large, shiny, pointy teeth. Templeton swallowed hard. His stomach, previously so big and pleasurable, suddenly felt like an enormous anchor weighing him down.
"You don't seem like the type to eat pies," he said nervously.
