It was sooner than Shenzi expected before the two males were back, or, as it turned out, Ed was. "Ed, what's going on," Shenzi asked the frantic hyena, "where's Banzai?" The male mumbled and waved his arms about trying to convey what had happened to him and his companion, and while the Matriarch could somewhat understand him normally, he was going too fast to be intelligible, "hey, slow down." Several repeats later, she still didn't understand, so hit him and said, "look you're going to fast, slow down, what happened to you two out there?"
Finally, Ed managed to convey that they'd been ambushed by several lionesses, and that he'd barely escaped with his life, and didn't know what had happened to Banzai. A chill ran up Shenzi's spine, but she said, "okay, lets get a party together."
"Hang on," said one of the hyenas in the group Shenzi had assembled, "'your' lackeys get ambushed while they're out hunting for your private food supply, and you want 'us' to risk our lives to rescue them, no way, no way in heck."
Shenzi looked around the assembled crowd, and saw that most of the hyenas were agreeing with the male who'd spoken out. "Not even if I go," Shenzi asked, hoping that would drum up a bit of loyalty.
"You you look like you could do with getting out a bit more yourself," said another hyena, and the crowd was soon in raucous laughter.
Shenzi sighed in frustration, before turning to Ed and saying, "okay, looks like we're on our own. The male whined at that, but she replied, "we're not going to get any help out of them and I'm not leaving Banzai out there alone." A thought occurred, and she added, "and I probably could do with getting out a bit more, so let's go."
