"Am I going to like this place we're going," Shenzi asked as she followed Pendeza, eyes closed.
"Shenz', you gonna love it," Pendeza replied. He knew this was a lie, she'd hate what he had in store for if she knew, but 'he'd' love it.
A short time later, Shenzi, puffing now, asked, "how much further is it anyway?"
"Almost there," Pendeza replied, and indeed it was only a few dozen steps before they reached the place, which turned out to be a widish canyon, blocked off at one end by a rock fall, and with this end a scree slope that he'd barely managed to escape, Shenzi would have no chance.
"We're there," Shenzi asked as she bumped into Pendeza's rump.
"Just a few more steps," Pendeza urged.
Shenzi's eyes shot open as she felt the ground shift under her paws, but couldn't pull back because Pendeza then thumped her hard on the rear, forcing her forward, till she was riding the scree slope down into the canyon. She lay stunned at the bottom for a few moments, before managing to recover herself, at turn back to pendeza at the top, "what the heck was that for?"
"I'm sorry Shenzi, I really am," Pendeza, "I just couldn't help it."
"Oh you'll be sorry alright," Shenzi replied, "you just wait till I get out of here and I'll make you sorry of the day you were born."
"I'm sure you will," Pendeza said, "but you won't be getting out of there any time soon, believe me."
"Oh, won't I," Shenzi said, making her way over to the slope and climbing, but barely managed to get half a length up before the scree gave way and spilled her back down to the bottom. A second and third attempts were no more successful.
"You'll never make it," Pendeza replied as he watched Shenzi struggle, "heck, 'I' barely made it, so you'll stand no chance."
"Okay then," Shenzi said, deciding to heed Pendeza's words for now, "but tell me one thing, why?"
"I'm a control freak," Pendeza replied, "and I happen to like my ladies bigger, so this solves both things."
"By leaving me to die down here," Shenzi asked.
"Oh don't worry, I won't let you starve," Pendeza replied, disappearing from sight for a moment, before appearing at the side of the canyon, much closer, "in fact, here's a little appetiser, eat up," and dropping the gazelle carcass almost on top of Shenzi, "eat up."
Shenzi want to refuse the meal, to slim down and get out of here, and get revenge, but all too soon her new-found hunger kicked in and she fell to eating, which was followed by a digestion-laden nap.
When she woke up, Shenzi couldn't remember where she was for a moment, then the memories came flooding back, and she curse silently at Pendeza, who seemed to have disappear for now, and tried to decide what to do.
