You're not sure what has happened to Carson himself, but you decide it would be a fun prank to go to school as your friend. You snatch up a fresh pair of boxers from his bedroom and quickly pull on some more of his clothes. His eyesight is weak, so you also grab his glasses; and you top off your new look with one of his trademark bandanas. The water in the bathroom has stopped running by this point, so you are extra quiet as you slip out his door and drive off in his car.
You don't share any classes with him until after lunch, but you know his schedule, so you don't have any problems. You also don't have any problems with his locker combination, since he shares one with Dave Brozowski, and you just make sure that you're at the locker when Dave is. He takes less advanced subjects than you, so that's not a problem either. Your only concern is the shop class he has late in the afternoon. It would suck if you lost some of his fingers while using them.
Before you can face that test, though, you see your old body walking through the halls just after third period. It's wearing some of Carson's clothes, and you can't help breaking out in a grin when you see it: So, Carson has had to come to school as you.
You think about playing dumb, but your grin has already given the game away, and Carson pushes you into a corner. "Did you do this?"
You confess all, telling him about the lightning and the voice, and about sneaking into his house that morning. He grimaces, but you can tell he thinks it's a good joke. You're about to offer to swap back with him when a thought occurs to you.
"Do you have any tests this afternoon?" you ask.
"A math quiz fifth period. Why?"
Math is one of your best subjects. You can offer to take the quiz for him, giving him a good grade. In return, maybe you can get him to do you a big favor: You have never had the nerve to tell your friend Jenny that you have a crush on her. If you can get Carson, pretending to be you, to tell her, you could skip that horrible speed bump and maybe get right on to the part of trying to turn a friendship with her into something more.
