Alex kept walking, half wondering what to do with those amazing formulas and barely noticing that he was still shrinking, even below his original height of 5'10''. He could see his perspective switching a little bit, but he was distracted feeling relieved that his clothes were no longer going to break from the growth and thinking about how to enjoy his summer. Even if he could feel the clothes feeling a bit bigger than usual, he just thought they got stretched a bit from the earlier experience.
If he had another point of reference like one of his neighbors around, he could probably see how he was now around 5'6'' at that point, but the street was empty and he reached home safely, ready to take off the stretched clothes and get a well deserved rest. Nobody was at home, Alex guessed Janet was out with her friends or something and his mother was still working, so he just smiled, went to his room, took off the slightly uncomfortable clothes and hit the bed.
Alex woke up a couple of hours later, feeling well rested and looking forward to planning how to enjoy his months of free time now that school was over. He even forgot about all the size changing experience, and didn't care checking why the clothes he was now wearing still felt a bit loose on him. He went downstairs to get a snack but looked at the clock and knew his mother would be arriving soon, maybe he should just wait for dinner then. And where was Janet anyway? Alex thought maybe she had a sleepover, and considered if he could spend the night finally beating that videogame now that his sister wasn't around to fight with him for control of the TV.
"Hi mom" Alex greeted her from the couch when he heard the door being unlocked
"Hi honey, how was your last day?" Sara said
"It was.. interesting I guess. But I'm free" Alex said remembering what happened earlier and wondering again what to do with those weird formulas
"Interesting? How so?.. and what happened to you?" Sara walked towards the couch and could see something seemed to be off with Alex, he looked different but seated as he was she couldn't exactly tell why
"What do you mean?" Alex stood up to hug his mother and finally noticed. He was looking straight at her eyes when he normally was a head taller than her! Looking down he expected Sara to be wearing some tall high heels but she was just wearing her stockings with her usual office attire, it seemed she left her shoes at the entrance.
"What's going on? You're now.. smaller" Sara said with a shocked expression and putting a hand on her head to compare her own height and be sure she wasn't getting crazy.
Alex wasn't sure if he should tell her about the formulas, what if she thought it was dangerous or got angry with Ms. Cruz? maybe he could get away with a bs excuse about feeling sick? He also considered how he only noticed until now he was shorter and felt curiosity to check the world at this new height before growing back.
