All of the anthros look fully grown, but still exude youthfulness. You guess that they are eighteen or nineteen, about six or seven years older than you. You are a bit glad that they aren't little kids, who tend to be a bit jumpy and excited around pet humans and are more prone to unfortunate accidents. You note that the desks are arranged in a circle, letting you see all the different kinds of anthros clearly. Most of the ten teenagers are furry, but some are scaly or otherwise.
Suddenly, the lid of your cage lifts, and you are scooped up in your owner's paws. The kind anthro fox walks among the students, who often reach out to pat you, as she addresses them.
"Welcome back to the second half of Human Care, everyone. As you can see, we will be working with a live human now, instead of figurines, so everything you learned earlier this year must be practiced when handling him. His name is Dusty, and he's been living with me for one month. He can talk, but he is very quiet and will only talk when he is very comfortable with someone. Otherwise, you will all find Dusty to be affectionate and loyal, as long as you act respectfully back."
After being scratched playfully on the head by a giant lioness anthro, your owner travels back to her desk, where she shrinks you down to three inches tall and places you in a cage with a cushy bean bag inside. You know that you will be spending lots of your time with the students, and from the way that nearly all of them reached out to pet you, you feel like you are going to enjoy being in this classroom.
Your master continued talking to the students. "For the second semester, there are no tests or essays, only hands-on projects. Twenty five percent of your grades will come from group in-class projects with Dusty, and seventy five percent will come from one-on-one projects with Dusty. These one-on-ones will happen every day after in the order we have decided on at the beginning of class, and each of you must attend all three of your assigned dates, or you will be dropped from the class. In order to earn your human ownership licenses, you must score at least a ninety overall."
You do not know what it means to have a one-on-one. Will this mean that your owner won't be there to protect you if something goes wrong? Suddenly, the cage door opens, and you are caressed by soft black fingers. Surely your master won't allow any harm to come your way. The friendly digits lift your fragile frame up and place you in a padded palm. Your master carries you into the center of the circle, where she begins her first lesson with you.
