As Grace approaches the bus stop, she sees a little toy gun, cheap plastic, strange sounds and flashing lights. The kind you see at the dollar store, or in bargain bins after halloween. As the bus is nowhere in sight, and Grace has nothing else to do, she reaches down to pick up the gun, sitting at the bench by the stop. Turning it over in her hands, she notices a small switch, on the toy gun's barrel, just above the trigger.
"Shrink"
"Grow"
Laughing to herself, thinking of how silly it would be for one of her friends to see her now, she moves the switch to the "Grow" position, and jokingly fires it at the bench beneath her. The end of the gun glows, and makes a cartoony lazer noise, but nothing happens. Grace switches the gun to shrink, but before she can fire, the city bus turns the corner, coming to her stop. Standing, tucking her binder under her left arm, tossing away the toy gun, and digging in to her pocket for bus fare all at once, Grace doesn't notice as the toy gun fires, the bus before her shrinking in less than half a second, out of sight. Stepping towards where the bus was, a dollar bill in her hand, Grace stops, looking up and down the street. The bus had left, that quickly? Stepping off of the sidewalk, unaware of the city bus, now less than half an inch in size, Grace tries to see if she can spot the bus driving away.
