You are gently roused from your sleep by an unknown force, and receive a shock when your surroundings are, instead of being your bedroom, a cross between the insides of a temple and a palace. Your are lying in a four-poster bed, the sheets of which are a deep purple colour, and the frame is constructed out of a dark wood, which you guess to be mahogany, and has been inlaid with gold.
You draw the curtain of your bed and your attention is immediately drawn to your surroundings. An elegant table is positioned to the left of your bed, formed out of an upturned marble pyramid, with a spiral carved into it, inlaid with gold and supported by a blue crystal frame. Resting on top of it is a small clock made of brass, hundreds of tiny gears visible on its surface, constantly rotating this way and that.
You turn your attention to the rest of the room. The walls are constructed out of a whitewashed marble and several alcoves have been built into the walls to hold decorative items like small urns and the occasional manuscript displaying what appeared to be hieroglyphs. You see a bookcase built out of the same wood as your bed and reluctantly step onto the semi-cold marble floor and approach it.
You begin to browse the titles displayed on the spines of the various books, but none are recognisable. Many seems to be religious in nature, but do not belong to any religion you have ever heard of. You pull a faux-leather-bound book entitled 'Anthros, Animals, And Proper Worship' out of the bookcase and examine it.
The front cover has a simple depiction of a pawpad on it, while the back has two Vetruvian man-esque diagrams of a human and what seems to be an anthropomorphic fox, as well as a normal fox, all three arranged in a triangle, with lines reaching out from each of them to the other two. Puzzled, you slide the book back into place and notice one called 'To My Brother And High Priest'.
You retrieve it from the case and flip it open, and realise it is a photo album of sorts. A note falls out and you bend down to retrieve it.
It reads,
'To my brother and high priest,
I know you often long for the past, and experience a great deal of nostalgia. Me and your other sisters have compiled this book for you so that you may indulge in whatever happy memories you desire, as we know you are also under a lot of stress due to your duties. Your Sister and goddess,
Lily.
You weren't really sure of what to make of that note. You had a goddess as a sister? And you were her high priest, as well? You slip the note back into the book and begin to leaf through it, until you come across a picture that truly stuns you.
Five figures, wrapped in swaddling cloths. Two anthro dragons, one pure gold, the other white as silver with a gold underbelly. One anthro horse, with chestnut brown fur, and sparkling blue eyes. One anthro dolphin, her skin as grey as a stormcloud. And finally, an anthro vixen, her red fur contrasting with her black hands, which were eagerly grasping the air.
And you, in the background, a toddler, beaming at your sisters.
You set the book down on the table, stunned and slightly shaken. You attempt to gather your thoughts but you are interrupted when a loud but gentle and kind voice, seemingly coming from nowhere, says to you,
"Brother? Are you alright?"
