Born by Science

You wake up, and you immediately notice that you cannot move. You feel ill, not completely there, and fear that you have a terrible disease. You feel nothing, you see nothing, you are alone, completely helpless.

You hear odd muffled echoes, and you listen intently, as they are the only stimuli you can notice. They sound like voices, many different voices you do not recognize. You catch some of the louder, stronger sentences.

"It's condition is stable."

"Diverting power at one hundred percent."

"I'm detecting brain waves!"

Instantly, you feel your whole body tingling with some sort of unknown energy. It makes you feel alive now, better than you have ever felt in your life, though you still can't move or see. At least you have no doubt that you are alive. You guess that you had a stroke or something and must currently be in an emergency room. The muffled voices grow excited and pleased, and you know that you are going to make it.

"I'm getting a heartbeat, bodily functions are normal."

"We've almost done it! Just a little bit more..."

"Amazing, it's starting to move!"

You feel your lungs attempt to take in air, but instead of oxygen you get a breath full of fluid. You get scared, and your limbs start jerking involuntarily. What's going on, are you some sort of experiment?

"Preparing to release subject. Three, two, one, zero."

You feel like you are falling, and land on a stretchy surface. You feel fluids emptying around you, and you cough up the fluid in your lungs, taking in much needed air. You feel sore, but still very healthy.

The voices are no longer muffled, and seem to be rejoicing. Hearty laughter, shouts of victory, the slap of high fives, all of these sounds are clear and loud. You feel your sight start to return as you look at blurred white surroundings. You see something move before you and assume that its the doctor that saved your life. You get up and walk towards the figure.

"Sir, it's walking already!" cries a voice from elsewhere. "This is incredible! Surely the greatest biological success in history! Quick, see if it can talk too!"

You feel a presence before you, and feel like you are watched, so you say the first thing that comes to mind, "Um, thanks." You immediately hear loud gasps, followed by enthusiastic clapping. You feel yourself rise, then a towel of sorts wipes you off. Now you can see, but wish you didn't, because before you is the huge face of a giant bear, which should easily stand at least a mile tall. The giant head looks your way and opens its maw to speak.

"Your, welcome, H-1, and welcome to life!"
