Chapter #3

A policeman sees them & yells for them to halt

    by: Unknown
The person in the green sweater appeared to be a lady who looked near forty. She had thick black, curly hair. She was around five foot seven in height and her clothing looked fresh and expensive. She wore a sports shoe, the kind runners wear for support, which are light and trendy.

As the two women ran through the park a policemen sees them and yells for them to halt. Jessica stopped running and turned around. The woman also stopped. As he came up to them he stopped and caught his breath for a minute.

“What is all the running about between you two girls?”

They looked at each other. The green sweater lady spoke up first and said, “I am running for exercise. I’m a bit late today as I have the day off so I can get some needed errands run. My run takes me by my bank over there,” she pointed to the Aloft National Bank. “So, I stopped there thinking I could save some time taking care of that errand on my way home. I couldn’t get in, and besides I didn’t have my purse containing my bank business. I just left and that is how I happen to be running, officer.”

It was Jessica’s turn and she felt a bit embarrassed. “I am a PI; so, between the robbery last night, at the bank where I work, and seeing this woman take off running, like she did, I got to wondering if she had anything to do with the robbery. When she returned to the bank the doors were shut and no one was around. She tried the doors, but they were locked. That is strange, she thought. The detectives should still be inside taking fingerprints or whatever they can find to do for their investigation.

She drove to the police station, which was not that far and talked to the Chief inspector. She asked him what had happened to cause the bank to close.

The bank decided to close the inspection for the present time. They were concerned with getting the bank opened again for its customers.

This sounded good to her. She went back home thinking a nice bath would refresh her frazzled nerves. As she was soaking in the tub she head the front door bang closed. She had locked it like she always did when she come home. Her ex had the only other key and that was because he never gave it back after he moved out. The divorce was final; it was time for him to give it up.

She called out, but no one gave an answer. She stood up and was reaching for her towel when suddenly…
