Everything was normal for a while. It was a busy monday morning on campus, which is usually when there is the most amount of students heading to and from classes. The most crowded time of the week. I got to admit, this guy sure picked the rich time to do this.
I saw him standing right in the middle of the campus, writing down on a clip board. I was confused, but didn't really care what he was doing. I had tests to study for, papers to write, studying to do. It was suppose to be a stressful school week. At least now I can say he helped me not have to do all that.
He was standing on the sidewalk, and I had to walk right past him. Again, this was all normal. Walking past someone isn't a big deal. As I got close to him he looked at me, I looked at him, he gave me a smile and a nob, and I greeted him with a good morning like I do with any person I see older than me.
As I just walked past him, it was like it was in slow motion. He reached into his coat pocket, and pulled out a devise that looked like the mind eraser thing from Men In Black. Obscure reference, I know, but that's exactly what it looked like. He put it up in the air, and it pressed a button on it, me being the closest student to him.
Everything went silent. I couldn't hear anything, and the world seemed to freeze around me. It was like time stopped. Then, with a huge blast, a cone of blue light projected from the devise downward, encompassing the professor completely, as I saw a look of surprise come over his face before it was covered by the light.
Keep in mind, the time stopping thing was probably all in my head. As soon as that beam hit with a loud blast that hurt my ears, everyone looked in his direction, as a huge white flash exploded outward from the devise, covering the entire square of the campus.
Blinded, deafened, confused, and scared, I dropped down to a fetal position while still standing on my feet, covering my ears, closing my eyes. Everything was black, and all I heard was the loud ringing in my ears.
I slowly opened my eyes, and looked around. Everyone on the square looked around confused, and I looked where the professor was standing, to only see a smoking pile of black ash, with the parts of the devise on top. My heart started racing, I covered my mouth and took a step back. This thing must've killed him.
