Kovu groaned lowly as he lay back against the rock, welcoming its shade on his back and head, the sun, was, in his opinion, too hot to be out in in full. His attempts to get comfortable were not made any easier by the slightly larger than was really comfortable weight in his stomach, he'd really have to try to curb his appetite. Curb it even further anyway, he was already eating a lot less now after a moon here than he had in the first days after the reunification. Back then, it was only a little better than even odds that he wouldn't end any meal with stomach cramps. He'd not alone in suffering like that either, he knew, just about every one of the former Outlanders had had at least one painful lesson in the perils of gluttony.
Kovu didn't have much time to get comfortable though as very soon princess Kiara extracted herself from the melee that was the feast on a by now rather denuded wildebeest carcass, and came and lay beside him, then lent against him, which was just a bit to close for comfort, "oof, not so heavy on my haunch, hey."
Kiara smiled as she looked up at him, "still making a glutton of ourselves are we?"
"Well, maybe I did eat a bit more than I should have," Kovu admitted, a touch begrudgingly, still finding it hard to overcome what had once been a survival skill, "but I'm getting better."
"Yes you are," Kiara replied, then added, "and more comfortable."
"More comfortable," Kovu asked curiously, "what d'you mean by that?"
"Well you're no longer skin and bone are you," Kiara asked, "or hadn't you noticed?"
"Oh I'd noticed," Kovu said quickly, though it was only half true. He'd noticed that he didn't bruise up so easily these days, and nor did he feel too achy after lying on hard rock, but he hadn't really known why, until now, "are you saying I'm getting fat?"
"Hardly," Kiara chuffed, "you were half-starved before, now you're looking properly healthy, like a prince of royal blood, instead of some dirty old rogue."
"Thanks," Kovu said, the lowered his head to whisper in her ear, "but need I remind you, that prince though I am, it's your blood that's royal?"
"And aren't you glad it is," Kiara whispered back.
"Oh yes I am," Kovu whispered, "I'm so very very glad." Then his mind came back to his current situation, "now, could you shift off just a little, please?"
"Certainly I could," Kiara smiled cheekily.
Kovu sighed, but happily, Kiara did so enjoy teasing him, "would you please lie a bit less heavily on my haunch Kiara?"
"At once sire," Kiara said, and moved to shuffle her lower half around so as not to be resting so much on her love's stomach. At the same Time, Kovu moved to extricate his foreleg from underneath the princess, which her then rested across her chest, startling a tiny gasp from her.
"Something the matter," Kovu asked, concerned.
"No, no it just took me by surprise," Kiara replied, then deciding she like the sensation of being embraced in such a way, moved her shoulders back hard into his chest, "it feels nice though, so keep it up."
"Glad to be of service," Kovu replied, tightening his grip.
