Dani failed to get to her feet in time - and Bobby's falling foot was surprisingly smooth and graceful for something so large. Little wrinkles and lines filled in on the expanse of flesh as it lowered, and the smell intensified and there was a sudden warmth all around her before all at once the flesh was crashing into her and forcing her back into the carpet fiber. For a split second, Bobby's foot was soft and yielding, his sole warm and enveloping. And then all at once it settled, and a weight she could never have prepared for rolled over her. It felt like a steamroller had just driven over top of her.
There was pain, such terrible pain and the oddest sensation ever - as if she'd just been forced flat. Not flat as in against the ground, but thinned - flattened under his foot, crushed, and yet not to death. Dani tried to scream but her jaw seemed useless. Her face, no, her whole body felt wider somehow... spread out against a small part of her best friend's massive bare sole as if he stepped on a piece of putty, or gum.
And then the weight shifted, and even lifted a little bit - he must be walking, Dani realized! But she seemed to lift upward forever. Did he feel her? Was he lifting to see what he'd stepped on? A cruel thought, she realized, to think of herself as something anyone had "stepped on." It almost made it worse that it was Bobby. She felt so terribly insignificant to simply be crushed under the foot of her best friend like a bug. She hoped he was checking his foot and not just walking...
But was his foot going to keep lifting? Or was it only going to lower again?
