Chapter #5Mona, Pizza Delivery Woman Extraordinaire by: Henrynewton   The wind swept through Mona's long hair she sped wildly down the country road. Her moped was performing admirably, considering its cargo...usually, it only had to carry its thin driver, and a couple of pizzas. But today? Well, she had gotten an order for an absolutely insane amount of pizzas...apparently, there was some enormous party going on (that she hadn't been invited to...alas), and they had ordered enough pizza to feed an army. Because of that, Mona had hitched a small caravan of three enormous trailers to her wee little moped, each of the trailers chock full of the world's most delicious pizza. It was a credit to her absurdly powerful little moped that it still blazed past the land like a bullet.
As she merrily drove, looking forward to receiving the massive payment that awaited her upon delivery (to say nothing of the tip), she began to happily sing.
"This here is Mona Pizza!
Makers of the world's best eatsa!
Fresh sauce and cheese galore,
Brought straight to your front door!
This here is Mona Pizza!
Makers of all tasty treatsa!
Our pie's crispy, crunchy crust,
Leaves others in the dust.
Grab a hot slice and take a big bite!
It's so good that you'll start a fight,
For more MONA PIZZAAAAAA!!"
At this point, she clenched her eyes shut, and rose her voice into a beautiful crescendo...managing to entirely miss the fact that there was an enormous pothole dead ahead, which she was fast approaching. So, her moped dipped into it mightily, sending the trailers crashing into the back of it, launching it ahead violently, and causing a mightily impressive crash that tumbled on for quite a while, consisting of moped, trailers, and one very startled but unharmed Mona. Eventually, they all came to a stop. Mona got up to her feet wearily, and dusted herself off as she approached her moped..which was now short one wheel.
"Well...crap." she muttered.
She surveyed the rest of the crash site. The trailers were all intact, and she could see her moped's missing wheel laying in the grass a few dozen feet away, looking rather lonely.
"Hmph." she grunted as she sat down on the ground, and drew out her cell phone.
"...hey, Joe? Yeah, it's Mona. I got into a crash on the way to the-...no, no, I'm okay. My moped's banged up pretty bad, though. Any chance you could send someone down here to pick me up, and finish the delivery?...awesome! Thanks, Joe. How long until-?...AN HOUR AND A HALF!?...no, no, I'll be okay that long, I guess. Alright, seeya soon. Bye."
Mona sighed as she clicked her phone shut. This day had taken a rather amazing turn for the worse. As she sat feeling sorry for herself, she found herself eyeballing the trailers full of pizza, and she realized that she was hungry, and furthermore, just wanted some comfort food after her frightening ordeal. Surely, the people wouldn't miss just one pizza (...or two...or...) from the whole enormous order?...but then again, eating the pizza that you yourself are supposed to be delivering is a cardinal sin in the industry. What to do?  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
