They both turned back to Megaman and Renamon replied "You've got a deal. Lets go." Megaman nodded and motioned along the road towards the tower. "This way." Then began running along the road. A light tinkling coming from their claws against the roads surface. As they got closer to the Tower they noticed that a few walls seemed to be knocked down and a building was totally destroyed. Megaman stopped suddenly and held up his hand. Signalling them to stop.
"What is it?" Asked Renamon, not sensing any danger. "Something is wrong around here. Generally the Reaverbots are programed to not damage the city they protect but this looks like it was done by a big one. We should be on our guard." Guilmon laughed "C'mon we can take whatever this place throws at us." He took a step forward and was suddenly thrown from his feet as a huge robot burst from the ruins of a building. The Robot turned towards their group, raising the huge club like appendages attached to its arms. It's single red eye glowing with malevolence. "Watch out!" Yelled Megaman as he jumped away from the robot as it slammed it's arms against the ground. Causing a large explosion which knocked everyone against nearby walls.
"Guilmon does the term be careful even register for you?" Asked Renamon as she got up and launched herself at the attacking robot. Guilmon chuckled to him self and did likewise "Nope. Why do you ask." Guilmon said as he ducked under a clumsy swing and launched a fireball at the smoking hole Megaman had made a second before. This caused a small chain of explosions which linked up with another series that Renamon had caused on it's back. Everyone backed away quickly as the explosions increased in violence and engulfed the mechanical warrior.
As the explosion cleared several diamond like objects fell to the ground. Megaman stepped forward and crouched to gather them up. Renamon and Guilmon moved closer to try and see what they were. Megaman stood up and held out his diamond filled hands to Guilmon. "These are refractors. Small ones of course but they should be able to power the machine I was telling you about when we find it." Guilmon took the crystals and held them up to the light. They sparkled brilliantly, blue and purple in colour. "Are they valuable?" Asked Renamon. "These ones aren't worth much, but the larger ones can fetch a fair bit." Replied Megaman as he turned and continued along the path. Guilmon put the refractors in his backpack and followed suit while Renamon looked at the wreckage of the reaverbot. Just that handful of gems had powered that huge robot. No wonder bigger ones must be valuable. she shook herself out of it and ran to catch up to the other.
As she caught up they were entering a courtyard that lead to the front of the tower. Guilmon noticed that here to, the lawn was perfectly manicured. "Megaman, do you know where the people who built this city are? This place looks like it was made yesterday." Asked Guilmon. Megaman glanced up at the ceiling. "I have no idea who lived here or where they went. There are places like this all over the worlds. But as far as I know it's the reaverbots that keep the place from falling into disrepair." Megaman walked up to the front door. Which was completely smooth and featureless, save for a panel next to it. He was about to enter something on the keypad when he hesitated and looked at them both. "Be careful it's likely there will be a guard inside, trying to stop people from stealing stuff." Guilmon and Renamon nodded and stepped away from the door getting ready to react to anything. Megaman nodded back and pressed a botton on the panel.
Slowly the door way slid silently open. Whats inside?
