Gentle persuasion

As Shade began to work his maw over the gryphon's head, he wrapped his limbs around the rest of the gryphon to hold it in place. He then pushed his maw further, getting the gryphon's head to the back of his throat and started swallowing in the hope that this would convince the gryphon he was serious.

The gryphon began to squirm violently in his grip but Shade managed to hold on. Does the gryphon give up?
