Chapter #5

The Dragon's Despair

by: Bruce Lee Gifford Jr. Author IconMail Icon
Jessica was fascinated by the dragon that was a couple yards away from her. Suddenly, the dragon looked up from the stream and stared right at her. At first Jessica was scared and was about to run away, but then she looked into its eyes. The dragon's eyes were a dark blue color the Jessica had never seen before. Jessica almost felt as if she was hypnotized by the entrancing blue eyes she was starring into.

Suddenly, the dragon took one step toward her. Jessica instinctively took a step back as well. Jessica kept starring into the eyes of the dragon, and she could see that its eyes were filled with sadness. Jessica swore that she even saw a tear trickle down from one of the eyes. Jessica couldn't believe it, but she was witnessing to for herself. Dragons had emotions and feelings like humans!

The half-dragon watched the human girl for a long time. Yet she still didn't run away. "Could she not be afraid of me?" he thought to himself, "Or is she just in shock and can't move? Either way, this is the longest time a human has been near me and not run away."

The half-dragon decided to test out his theory. He took a step toward the girl. Her reaction would be all that he needed to find out the truth. To his despair, the girl took a step back from him. He had hoped that this girl was different from all the other humans, but she too was afraid of him. This greatly saddened him and he began to cry. He fell to his under belly and buried his head into his hands. He continued to cry his heart out.

Jessica couldn't believe what she was seeing. The dragon fell on its stomach and cried. Jessica felt sorry for the creature, though she didn't understand why the dragon was crying. She thought about going over to the dragon and trying to comfort it. If she did, she might gain a friend out of it, that is, if the dragon is as intelligent as she thinks it is.

Then she became worried. "What if the dragon is faking it?" she thought, "What if it wants me to approach it so that it can just eat me." Jessica stared at the crying dragon as she tried to think of what to do.

You have the following choices:

1. Jessica approachs the dragon and comforts it.

*Noteb*
2. Jessica runs away, because it could be a trap.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
