They are attacked by pirates

"Steady girl bring the boat out of the harbor slowly," Tideus called down to Sedna as she secretly pulled his boat out of the town's harbor as she always did, "We don't want to have to spend a week repairing it because you bumped a rock again do we?"

"Bumped one rock..." Sedna muttered as she pulled the boat out of the harbor.

Sedna pulled the boat out into the deeper part of the lake and Tideus gave a high pitched whistle signaling that she could come up now. Sedna slid her head through a hole in the bottom of the boat and pushed open a trap door that let out on the ships deck. Sedna had often wondered how Tideus had made a boat with a hole in it but he only smiled and said nothing.

"How'd things go in town today dad?" Sedna asked as her head emerged above the deck.

"The cheap bastards tried to short change us saying that 'them fish ain't as fresh as usual'" Tideus said smiling.

Sedna laughed at Tideus and said, "You were the one who said to wait one more day before coming to town."

"And miss spending the day with my girl?" Tideus laughed, "On her special day? Not likely!"

All mirth suddenly vanished from Tideus's face as he suddenly turned to look out into the lake and said in a cold voice, "Go home now Sedna."

"Why father wha-?" Sedna started.

"I said get home now!" Tideus shouted turning to glare at her with a look that said he would not accept an argument, "Head home and keep well below the water line until you get there."

Sedna didn't really want to leave Tideus alone on the boat, but this new side of him was scaring her. Sedna slide down the hole in the boat and swam quickly back to her home at the side of the lake. Sedna looked out over the water and saw a large pirate ship approaching her father's boat. Sedna...
