Ron wanted to make his mark, the three friends were known for hanging around together. But Ron still felt he hadn't earned his place, he wasn't 'The Chosen One, The boy who lived, and he certainly wasn't 'The Smartest Witch of her generation'. Hell, the last significant thing, people talked about was his Wizard Chess game, and only his two friends had been there to see it.
So one quite night, he snuck three books out of the restricted section of the library. He set himself a goal, something that both his friends would want to learn, and that neither of them had attempted.
When the perfect spell hit him, he walked about with a smile all day long.
Neither Harry nor Hermione were animagi. But if even his rat could learn that, then surely he could too.
With that thought in mind he'd done some research into the subject.
Once the rest of his dorm had fallen asleep, he snuck them out of their hiding place.
'Transfigurations: For Fun and Vengeance.', a bit of research told him the author was a former Slytherin, and the title was done.
'Transfiguration 101', the author for that one was a Hufflepuff, so he found hope in that too. If a Hufflepuff could create these spells then surely a Gryffindor would be capable of learning them.
'Animagi: An introduction.'. This was the hardest, but the most intriguing, naturally enough it was written about a century ago, by a Ravenclaw student, who went on to become an Auror.
