This choice: Do a little company "downsizing" • Go Back...Chapter #3A Little Gift For Heidi by: Stepbonk "Ok Heidi, why don't you come on in?" Vera invited, feeling in a particularly good mood today from flexing her ever increasing power. Vera's 21 year old secretary and personal protege promptly stepped through the door. Vera licked her lips as she gazed upon the young blonde; she was proud of her apprentice, whom she regarded almost like a little sister. One day, Vera hoped, she would play a big role in Vera's corporate empire, which would by then command the wealth and resources of a large country.
Heidi had a great body, and she loved to show it off, which was very pleasing to Vera's eyes. As far as Ms. Mueller was concerned, that was precisely what a woman's body was made for, and the entire landscape of the Earth itself ought to be dominated by giant beautiful women. Vera also felt very sorry for her little "sister". She had recently gone through a bad breakup with her old highschool sweetheart, and had shown up to work in tears the following day. Vera didn't like to see her poor innocent angel being hurt so cruelly by some stuck up snobby man, so she had decided at the time to perform a "divine intervention".
It just so happened, as Vera easily discovered through the far-reaching tentacles of her organization, that a few weeks after the breakup, Raymond had made a few ill-advised sports bets and ended up in the pockets of the bankers, literally. At only 6" tall, he had relocated to a poor part of town and found employment at a miniature factory, the only job he could manage to find in such tight circumstances. That's when Vera stepped in and bought up the whole operation.
"What can I do for you, Ms. Mueller?" the beautiful young girl chirped, her sing song voice alone bringing a huge grin to the tyrant model's face.
"Come, have a look at what I got you for Christmas!" Vera chimed, excited to see Heidi claim her reward for her unquestionable loyalty and beauty. Heidi gasped in shock when Vera pulled back a curtain in the corner of the room and revealed an entire skyscraper, standing only about 5' tall, with a bunch of tiny occupants scurrying about inside the windows and on the grounds in front. The skyscraper stood on a raised platform which had been built to accomodate its foundations, so it stood mostly intact even though it had been roughed up somewhat in the transport. The platform also had some standing room for people to get up close to the little tower, so it seemed they weren't just there to be put on display.
Vera had purchased the entire company Raymond worked for, and then promptly changed the rules of operation. Knowing how desperate the employs inside were to keep their jobs, they gave them two options.
1) Quit their jobs and shrink further from the extra debt.
2) Keep their jobs and shrink further to come live in Vera's office working on month long stints, with only 2 days' vacation each month.
Nearly all of them had stayed on, knowing how helpless they were on their own (it was almost impossible to work one's way up in society once they went too far into debt, if they didn't already have valuable skills). So they had all been made to gather around, watching through the windows as the big blast came and reduced their entire building to an even more miniature replica of its former self, while a smiling bikini-clad Vera Mueller toyed with the building as she approached her Godzilla-like proportions. Now Raymond saw his giant ex-girlfriend out the window, and he knew he was finished. He was right, but Vera didn't plan for him to have a quick and easy exit from the world.
