Chapter #3

Having second thoughts

    by: T.J. Author IconMail Icon
Although excited to see his "doll" grow before his eyes, Ryan was having second thoughts about the whole ordeal. Perhaps he should sell the figurines back and, well, go after real girls to talk to? Or maybe he should the figures away until he was older and sell them for a more collective value? Reluctantly Ryan then told Amy,

"I'm sorry, Amy, but I'm afraid I have to put you away for a while in storage", he explained to the 5 foot 3 girl before his eyes.

"I understand", Amy sadly replied, her head frowning as she said so. "But maybe in the future you'll find a use for me."

"I'm glad you understand", Ryan replied happily, holding the black box in his hand. "Amy, six inches."

Ryan then watched Amy shrink back to her original height, and the boy put the girl away back in the box and taped the box top open. Right before he put the five boxes away in the closet, Amy spoke in lip "Until we meet again". Ryan simply nodded in reply.

- TWENTY YEARS LATER -

Now thirty-five, Ryan had settled down and married a girl he met in college. The two were wed almost ten years ago and had their first child seven years ago: a boy. Two years later, they had another child, who was a girl. As Ryan proceeded to clean out his son's closet to look for anything to give away, he saw five dusty boxes. Ryan proceeded to blow the dust off of them and remembered that they were the five figurines he put twenty years ago!

"Well, I'll be", he said in shock as he looked at the figurines, who didn't look a day older than when he bought them. "I remember these. Maybe Rachel (his daughter) will like these." The five year old in question, meanwhile, was playing with stuffed animals in her room to the right of her brother's. Ryan scooped up all five boxes and proceeded to enter Rachel's room, placing the boxes on the ground next to her.

"Here, Rachel", he told the girl, placing the black box on the ground next to the five boxes. "These are dolls I bought long ago. You can have them if you want." The curious five year old stopped playing with her stuffed dinosaurs and proceeded to get a closer look to the "dolls", pulling all five of them out of their boxes and placing them on their backs on the ground.

"Wow, they're cute", Rachel smiled in glee at her new dolls. "Thank you, Daddy."

"You're welcome. But be careful", Ryan noted.

"Why, Daddy?" Rachel asked, confused by her father's warning.

"There's more to these girls than they seem", he smiled as he left his daughter's room, closing the door behind her. Rachel, meanwhile, proceeded to pick up the Amy doll and move her around a little.

"Hello", Amy smiled to the girl. "You must be R-R-Ryan's daughter. Nice to meet you."

"Wow, you talk", Rachel said in astonishment. She then pointed to the other dolls, and although she didn't ask if they could talk as well, Amy understood the girl's body message well enough.

"Yes they can", Amy smiled to Rachel. "And I hope you enjoy our company and take good care of us."

"Don't worry, Miss Amy. I will!"
