Her mouth closes...and then gapes open again. She then closes it a second time this time successfully. Her eyes, however, continue to stare at you. Then realizing her rudeness she shakes her head, smiles gently at you and asks, "Are you alright?"
Those three little words made your day. The kindness of those words stand in stark contrast with your mother's treatment of you. You look at her and shout, hoping she can hear you, "I'm fine, thank you for asking, I was very worried that I would be stuck in this mall alone!"
She shakes her head, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you." She then brings her lovely face down closer to her daughter's hand. You then repeat what you had said. This time she hears you. She smiles, her dazzling white teeth gleaming, and holds out the tip of her pointer finger, which is like a building to you, "My name is Helen. What's yours and how did you get like this?"
You shake her finger and answer, "My name Jake and I have no idea how I got like this, I think that my mother had something to do with it." You then explain your adventure up till being found by Hannah.
"That's an interesting story. I'm surprised that someone's own mother would do this to them...I'm sorry to hear that. Listen, you can come home with Hannah and I. You really seem as though you need some help and I believe in helping those in need. What you need is a safe place to stay with good food and a nice, warm bed until we can do something about your size. What do you say?"
Your eyes almost tear up in relief, you're shocked at the kindness of this random stranger who only just met you. You've always been a little bit of a cynic when it comes to humanity, but this woman may change your view....on the other hand, you turn your head and look at Hannah, whose hand you are still in, and your body fills with fear, she still has her creepy gaze fixed on you. You can't tell if you are maybe just paranoid, but the gaze seems to be either power-hungry or maybe playful, it is hard to tell. You then turn back to Helen's face, kindness just practically shining off of it, like beacon from a lighthouse.
You then make a fateful decision, "Yes, I would really...really like to stay with you and Hannah. I...I can't believe your kindness. I am in your debt and if...no when I return to my normal size, I will find some kind of way to repay your kindness."
She looks down at you surprised for a moment but then flashes her smile again, "There's no need to thank me, I am just doing what any person would do in this situation. So...it's settled then I'll take you home with us. Hannah, honey, can you hand me the Jake please?" Helen holds out her hand.
